Now's your chance to own a magnificent Art Deco sofa--so long as you don't mind it being tiny! This sofa kit is reproduced from a full-sized original couch from the 1930s. It has those quintessential art deco arms, while still fitting in with your mid-century modern and contemporary furniture and dollhouse displays.

This listing is for a DIY kit to make this sofa yourself. It contains fully-cut and labeled chipboard frame pieces, cotton fabric of your choice, cotton batting, beads (for the legs), and detailed step-by-step instructions.

To complete it, you will need glue, scissors, an iron, and paint or stain (optional). Don't have what you need? You can add on a Basics Set, which contains glue and paint, or an Essentials Set, which contains glue, paint, a sanding stick, a paintbrush, and a test palette.

The kit contains 100% natural materials, with no plastics or synthetics.

This kit is rated advanced.

The finished sofa measures 4-3/4" long x 3-1/8" deep x 2-3/4" tall (12 cm x 8 cm x 7 cm).

FAQ

What tools do I need to finish the kits?

All of the kits need glue to complete--any kind that adheres to wood will work. (I use Aleene's Tacky Glue.) You may also need a craft knife, sandpaper or an emery board, and clamps or clips.

Is paint provided to make the kit look like the sample?

No, the kits do not include paint or stain. Any type of paint, stain, or marker that adheres to wood will work. For the samples, I used craft acrylic paints, artist acrylic paints, water-based washes, oil-based wood stain, and micron markers.

Will I be able to customize this?

Yes! All of the kits and components are made of basswood ply (except the boot tray, which is chipboard). While it requires some elbow grease, the wood can be be cut with multiple passes of a craft knife.

Don't hesitate to reach out if you're not sure about the ease or possibility of a customization you're considering, and I can work through it with you or potentially do a custom order.
